Malivoire Vineyard Manager Tristan Bondett had his first interaction with the winery as a harvest cellar hand in order to complete his co-op portion of the Winery and Viticulture program at Niagara College. The following year found him in Australia, working a double harvest for Josef Chromy Wines in Tasmania and Clovely Estate in Queensland Australia.
Tristan returned to Malivoire in 2014 working both in the cellar and vineyards. In 2015, he took over as Vineyard Manager and today manages five estate properties comprising 32.4 hectares under vine with expansion currently underway. Using sustainability as a guiding principle in order to manage the mature Beamsville Bench vineyard sites, Tristan efficiently balances hand labour in combination with technological advancements in order to deliver premium fruit come harvest time. Tristan has maintained his interest and passion inside the winery as an integral member of the winemaking team taking part in numerous winemaking trials and experimental ferments based on specific vineyard treatments. Spare time pursuits have included three levels in the WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) training program and judging for the Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for Excellence in Ontario Wines.
Tristan Bondett hails from the Caledon Hills area north of Toronto and achieved a joint honours degree in psychology and business at Trent University.
